Lehigh staff and faculty are limited to the kind of information that can be shared with your parent(s) because of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). FERPA states, “At the postsecondary level, parents have no inherent rights to inspect their son’s or daughter’s educational records. The right to inspect is limited solely to the student.” Grades, GPA and other “non-directory” information can only be obtained if the student grants permission.

Students may grant access to anyone who may need access to their record (parents, guardians, sponsors, etc.) The accessible information is based upon specific permission granted by the student

If a student chooses to grant access to their educational and financial records, they must follow the steps to add an individual to the student record proxy access system. Changes to the access granted can be made at any time. Please remember that a student should never give their own login credentials to another user – Authorized users will be given their own login information to access the system.
